A private tour of the remarkable homes of the world's great couturiers, stylists, muses and fashion personalities
Some of the most celebrated figures of fashion - Chanel, Alaïa, Blahník, Yves Saint Laurent, Pucci, Kenzo and Missoni - are known for their public image and their outstanding design talents. But what kind of private worlds have they cultivated behind closed doors?
From France to Morocco, from England to Italy, Ivan Terestchenko's intimate photographs explore the décor, works of art and the personal collections of some of the world's greatest couturiers, stylists, muses and fashion celebrities. Some interiors, such as Gabrielle Chanel's apartment, are already legendary, while others, such as Franca Sozzani's Marrakesh riad, allow us to glimpse their owner's private haven. Home is often a sanctuary for those living in the public eye, a place for calm contemplation, and a new inspiration for jaded palates. In every room, courtyard, roof terrace and garden, the surroundings of these creative spirits reveal their engagement with textiles, books, art, space and light.
From Nicole Farhi's Queen Anne house in the heart of Hampstead, North London, to Christian Louboutin's Luxor courtyard retreat and Giorgio Armani's alpine chalet, complete with polar bear, here is an insider's first-hand tour of the spaces and places created and lived in by fashion's biggest names.
