About the Authors

Charlotte Gere, a specialist in nineteenth-century art and design, worked for many years as a special assistant at the British Museum cataloguing the Hull Grundy Gift of jewellery.

Her books include the pioneering Victorian Jewellery Design (1972) and Artists' Jewellery: Pre-Raphaelite to Arts and Crafts (1989).

Judy Rudoe is a former curator at the British Museum and was responsible among other things for the British Museum's post-1700 European jewellery. Her books include Decorative Arts 1850-1950: A Catalogue of the British Museum Collection (1994) and Cartier 1900-1939 (1997).

Charlotte Gere and Judy Rudoe are also the principal authors of The Art of the Jeweller (1984), the catalogue of the Hull Grundy Gift.
