About the Author

John Hendrix is a New York Times bestselling author and illustrator whose work blends words and images to bring history, storytelling, and big ideas vividly to life. His books include The Mythmakers: The Remarkable Fellowship of C. S. Lewis & J. R. R. Tolkien, an Eisner Award-nominated graphic novel named a Best Children's Book of 2024 by The New York Times; The Faithful Spy: Dietrich Bonhoeffer and the Plot to Kill Hitler, an NPR Best Book; Drawing Is Magic: Discovering Yourself in a Sketchbook; and The Holy Ghost: A Spirited Comic, among others.
In addition to his books, Hendrix's award-winning illustrations have appeared on book jackets and in major publications, including The New York Times, The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, and National Geographic. Hendrix is the Kenneth E. Hudson Professor of Art and the founding chair of the MFA in Illustration and Visual Culture program at the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis.
