Praise for Salmon Run

?? A Junior Library Guild Gold Selection

Starred Review R* 5-10 yrs "Chen documents this years-long process with a skillful care . . .The art is a wonder in both style and effectiveness, with washes of aquatic hues and fluid linework in watercolors ably conjuring the look and texture of the water. . . this is an exemplary use of illustrations to convey the biological processes that are often unseeable to humans."
The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books

Through realistic and expressive watercolor illustrations, readers journey with an embryo on the banks of the Pacific Northwest’s Duwamish River to adulthood in the Pacific Ocean and back. . . enough interesting facts here to delight most nature or animal lovers. Chen includes a panel of facts and terms in the back for those hungry for more. VERDICT A recommended purchase wherever animal books are extremely popular.
