About the Author

Sandro Miller is a Chicago-based photographic and video artist with an especial sensitivity to people and cultures. Known for his mastery of light and emotional depth, Sandro Miller's work spans the globe and explores truth, identity and the human condition. His portraits (ranging from political series in Cuba to conceptual works with John Malkovich) have been exhibited worldwide and published in The New Yorker, BBC News, American Photo, Smithsonian, Huffington Post, Interiors, among the others.

He published eighteen books, including American Bikers (1998), Imagine Cuba 1999-2007 (2008), Death in the Desert (2021) and A new American Landscape (2023).

With Skira he published Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich. Homage to the Photographic masters (2020), and Crowns. My Hair, my Soul, My Feedom (2021), Sandro Miller is widely recognized as an artist, author, documentarian and humanitarian. He donates his time and studio to causes related to health, race, education, and homelessness, always with a commitment to portraying the overlooked and the deeply human.
