Showcasing an exceptional collection of more than a hundred rare and unique artists' books, this lavishly illustrated volume highlights the use of sumptuous and unconventional materials, the hand-felt intimacy of collage and scrapbook techniques, the deployment of language as a physical form, and innovative formats. Featured works include outstanding examples by women artists, original manuscripts and maquettes for some of Surrealism's iconic texts; and remarkable sculptural bindings.
