Having grown up in The Netherlands, Iona is a Scottish-born London-based author and illustrator who is greatly inspired by the magic of everyday life. She discovered her love for visual storytelling during her BA in Graphic Communication and Illustration at Loughborough University where she became determined to continue refining her practice. By pursuing an MA in Children's Literature: Children's Book Illustration, Iona has developed a mixed media approach to image making and is very excited to see where her work will take her. Iona's illustrations are full of unusual and playful characters. Her work is characterised by whimsical colours, organic shapes and plenty of texture. She enjoys using nature as inspiration for her illustrations and can't resist a bit of rhyme in her writing.
